Know the contract before you integrate.
Send a query, read ranked results, and reconcile spend from the same response. The API reference holds the full schema; these are the fields most integrations start with.

Usage is metered at $0.10 per 100 searches, or $1.00 per 1,000 searches. Cost metadata is also returned as X-Desearch-* response headers — see pricing and billing.
Replacing a retired search API?
Microsoft retired the Bing Search APIs on August 11, 2025, and Google closed its Custom Search JSON API to new customers. The migration pages map each call to its Desearch equivalent, and the comparison pages cover Brave Search API, Tavily, Exa, and SerpApi.

Web Search returns ranked source results. AI Search synthesizes an answer from retrieved sources and includes citations.

A query is required, and results can be paged. The API reference carries the full parameter list and the response schema, which is the source of truth for the contract your client should target.
Web Search is metered at $0.10 per 100 searches on the checked-in rate card, which works out to $1.00 per 1,000 searches. Every billable response reports cost_usd, usage_count, and the metered service, so you can reconcile usage against Console billing history.
When you sign up and attach a card in Console, $5 in credits is added to your account automatically. At $0.10 per 100 searches, that covers 5,000 searches; after that, usage is pay-as-you-go.
